The Nest Event Center – A Family Affair

The Nest Event Center is the crown jewel in the 2017 renovation of the former Jonathan Byrd Building in Greenwood. Kristee and Lindel Anderson own The Nest Event Center and are friends of Randy and Julie Faulkner. Randy Faulkner & Associates renovated the entire complex to include Brickhouse Coffee and a growing list of retail and office tenants. The Nest was chosen as a name to honor the heritage of the Byrd family.

A Family Affair

Family is the theme carried forth in the operation of The Nest Event Center.? Kristee Anderson has created memorable events for the last thirty-eight years in partnership with her husband Dr. Lindel Anderson, Dean of Worship Studies at Indiana Bible College, Minister of Music at Calvary Tabernacle and Music Director at Calvary Christian School in Indianapolis. This life of service in music has created the need for a full time events planner which became Kristee?s role.

Shower Pastor

In addition to all the musical events and banquets our family hosted for Lindel?s music family,? Kristee said, I became known as the “Self-Proclaimed” Shower Pastor because we hosted wedding showers and baby showers for our large church family.? Kristee has a group of ?church ladies? called the Steel Magnolias who work alongside her tirelessly to ensure every detail is perfectly delivered.

Kristee?s daughter Madison is what Kristee calls ?a mini me.? Madison is highly creative in graphic arts and set design and brings her expertise to The Nest Events Inc.They have had a lot of practice in thirty-eight years.

Flexible Space

The Nest Event Center offers 7,000 square feet of flexible space in the form of five meeting rooms, a conference room, foyer with fireplace and a wedding chapel. The entire event center can seat 800 theater style or can seat 550 at tables with chairs. The main room can be divided in two with one side boasting a state of the art projection system which can display three separate projection programs at the same time. There is a stage and a dance floor which can be flexibly placed. The other side of the room is lined with windows and doors that open to the outside.

 

 

The conference room is at the end of the large foyer and can seat 8-10 at the conference table or multiple tables can be set to accommodate up to 20. It is the perfect place for a breakfast meeting or an elegant intimate dinner party.

A stunning flower wall is the perfect backdrop for photos. The color scheme can be changed to compliment the decor of the event.

The foyer hosts a beautiful white grand piano, a fireplace and could be the setting for a small wedding as this area can seat 60. The chapel is available for small weddings and can seat 40-50. Every detail of the event center was creatively designed by Kristee and her team. Even the restrooms are a stop you won?t want to miss. The women's restroom features a dressing area and lounge for the bride and her wedding party.

A Personal Touch

While the various rooms are stunning, the events get their impressive start in Kristee?s soft pink and sable office. It is a personal experience where Kristee and her cohesive and creative cohorts help you plan an unforgettable occasion. The Nest Event Center offers a wide variety of decorating ideas from farm house glam, to MacKenzie-Childs brights, to woodsy mossy and earthy to elegant in black and white or silver and gold. Kristee has collected beautiful decorations and serving pieces for years. She laughs and says, ?now I have an excuse for collecting all these beautiful things from mercury glass to peacock Christmas trees, there is no end to our creativity and nothing gets thrown away.

 

The Nest Event Center hosts weddings, receptions, banquets, parties of every kind, fundraisers, galas, trade shows, musical events and training seminars.A testimony to their extended family commitment to exemplary service, a major full event center party ended at midnight. The Anderson team of family, a few strong friends of their son, the Steel Magnolias church ladies arrived for some serious work and a huge amount of fun. Kristee recalls, ?we always have to have fun yet we had the entire room reset by 2 a.m. because we had to be ready for an event which began at 6 a.m. the next morning.? They are used to events that take place at all hours. A youth pastor had an afterburner event from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m. The youth had an exciting time projecting live Twitter feeds from the three projection systems and the high speed internet available in-house.

The Nest Event Center simplifies the financial aspects of event planning. Food, beverages and cakes are provided by caterers. The Nest has built a personal relationship with a variety of local caterers to accommodate any budget from $8-40 per person. Kristee believes in making an event affordable. A dinner event for 100 guests with catered food and bar is all inclusive at under $7,000. This includes half the ballroom, tables, chairs, linens, sound system, sweetheart table and dance floor. (Flowers, cake, video are available but not included in this price.)?Room rental is least expensive Monday ? Thursday and most expensive on Saturday.
