Enable

2020 was one of the worst years until 2021 arrived.  Every day since January 6, 2021, “Insurrection Day,” my friends have dropped like flies as they either wrote me off or they simply died.  I made it a point to turn off the main stream media and tune in to “alternative” media thanks to the mass censorship of social media.

In 2021, I became a Conspiracy Theorist and joined the Truther Movement.  We have waited a year, day by day anticipating all those things that were “about to happen.”  Had we been told it was to be another full year of limbo and liberal agenda, many of us might have given up. But God can use anyone for his purposes, even conspiracy theorists who seemed to be off their rockers.

Such was the case in June when my friend in conspiracy called me and said “You need to watch this show. I can’t remember the name of the guest, just scroll through until you get to a crazy looking guy.”  I did and as I listened, I had no clue why she thought I needed to hear this particular show, so I slept through it.  In his closing remarks, Crazy Guy said something that made me wake up and I instantly knew, I had had to make an appointment.

I had no idea how to reach him and he was in the UK to further compound things.  At 11:30 at night, I found his contact, sent him an email and said “I have been directed to contact you and I need an appointment.”  He was so busy I could not get in for 25 days.  The cost of the appointment was also a bit unsettling.  My friend who told me to watch this show was in shock when I told her I made an appointment, especially after sleeping through everything he had to say.  She actually rewatched the show, shaking her head at what prompted her to tell me to watch it.  She also thought she might be calling me Crazy Girl.

On June 25, 2021, Crazy Guy delivered the intended prophetic message.  There was a miraculous solution to my retirement needs.  I would be able to follow my dream of an RV Road Trip to see the country, meet people and write about it.  I would be able to help my refugee family in Africa. He outlined the most mind-boggling plan and it was just crazy enough that I followed fully on auto-pilot.  I drafted my entrepreneurial plan which was a piece of cake as I had so many entrepreneurial ventures under my belt and was ready by the 4th of July.

And then I waited and waited.  Now I was waiting for not one but two major world altering events to happen and each week, the bar would be set a week or two further out.  Meanwhile I shared the “Crazy Guy technique” from our skype session with a friend and the Lord told him to send me exactly the amount of money I had paid for my long awaited appointment.  God does not miss a thing to assure you He is in it.

By August my work started to slow down.  I used to close 10-13 loans per week and August only brought in 13 loans in a full month.  September and October were about the same as August.  November dropped to 4 and December dropped to 2 in a MONTH.  I had just reinvented myself yet again in 2020 to overcome the effects of Covid on my work and with great effort and expense, became a notary and loan signing agent. Now a year later, my brook ran utterly and completely dry.

As I turned 65, being totally and completely ill-prepared for retirement, I tried a new approach.  I made my petition to God.  I asked for assurance that this crazy plan and prophetic blessing would indeed take place.  More tribulations arrived.  My car got wrecked sitting still in the driveway.  Instead, I was given a test of walking through fire staying true to my faith and commitment to the Lord.  At great personal cost, I did what was right.

Again, I spoke to the Lord and told him that I was going to trust His efforts to rescue the mess I was in and then I went on to enjoy my six-week holiday season from my birthday to Christmas without fear and worry because He tells us to not worry and not to have fear.  I know from experience that when I go off and do something I love and trust Him for the result, He delivers.

The day before New Year’s Eve, I spent the last dollars I had to complete all the maintenance due on my 10-year-old Subaru.  I now had a new car thanks to the body work from the wreck and from replacing every mechanical part the Subaru had.  The income that went away from August to December was exactly equal to the balance on my credit card bill.

Again, I sat down to pray.  I was out of words. Meekly I said, “God how about just one word?  Can you give me just one word to hold on to?”  The word that next came to my mind and sat there not moving was ENABLE.  The concordance suggested Leviticus 26:13 – receiving of God’s blessing, a reward for obedience.  “I am the Lord your God who brought you out of Egypt so that you would no longer be slaves to the Egyptians. I broke the bonds of your yoke and enabled you to walk with heads held high.”

That was my assurance.  He had this under control.  With no income in sight and no motivation to figure out another profession, I sit in anticipation of how He will deliver what was prophetically promised.

I recall eleven years ago when I returned to Indiana broken and hopeless from a head injury and the loss of my profession, I was in need of a number of miracles.  Even my pastor said it looked bleak.  He made a pact with me and with God and he gave up one meal a day and told God he was going to do it until God did something.  Back then I was afraid to tell anyone because what if the Pastor starved to death before God acted?

In those eleven years, I have been the recipient of many God-ordained miracles. The Pastor is back to eating three meals a day. I have learned about God’s promise of provision and I have every assurance He will ENABLE me to carry on for His glory.  He took everything away that I depended on.  He emptied my coffers. He is going to use all the experiences I have gained from the multitude of jobs I have had.  He is going to take the desires of my heart to help the least of these with great generosity.  He is going to take this eccentric personality, the snake skin boots and fur coats and he is going to put me behind the wheel of something that lets me go meet the multitudes to make this world a better place.  I am not afraid to proclaim it and I can’t wait to report on the results.

Polly Riddell writing as G. Polly Jordan is a storyteller connecting people and the stories they tell. The division of the last two years has been heartbreaking.  Surely we can agree to disagree and continue loving each other in spite of our differences be it beliefs, religion, skin color, ethnicity, politics and the list goes on. I could not get this year end piece right.  Here is the first one I wrote before settling on this one and publishing neither.
