In Search of a Job for Polly

Within days of turning 62, Polly Riddell is in need of a job and still needs to work to support herself.  When asked what sort of work she is interested in, well this reveals the challenge and opportunity.  A car accident and head injury in 2006 took away her profession as a commercial real estate appraiser and left her with a few sensory issues.  These are not so obvious to the casual observer.  She speaks and writes well, is outgoing, welcoming, loves listening to your story and is quick to connect you with someone of benefit.  She is always on time and totally dependable. Passport to Employment – Cookies and Graduation

I have had my heart set on bringing cookies since I first joined Passport to Employment.  When you finally get a job, you bring cookies and share your good news.  Passport to Employment is a faith-based outreach of The Church at the Crossing to help people who are underemployed or unemployed seek employment.  The board kept calling me asking if they could remove me from the roster.  I finally decided that I was indeed employed, just not in a conventional sort of way.  So I baked peanut butter cookies and chocolate chip oatmeal pecan cookies and gave a little speech as I said my goodbyes to some of the finest people I have ever known. The Story Teller – Stories of Faith

For years, Polly has written stories of faith which generally centered around her own personal faith and growth.  Her very first blog site was Adventures with God – Life’s Experiences and Lessons Learned.  She laughs as she reads Webster’s definition of adventure… a bold, usually risky undertaking with an uncertain outcome.  “Nothing describes my life more than a risky undertaking with an uncertain outcome.” Polly says, “Think about it, everything you do is a risky undertaking from starting a business, to getting married to following Christ.  It all carries a certain degree of risk.” Continue reading “The Story Teller – Stories of Faith”

The Storyteller’s Story – G. Polly Jordan

For years, Polly has written stories and photographed people and places she finds intriguing.  A venturous spirit with a spunky style, she laughs as she reads Webster’s definition of adventure… a bold, usually risky undertaking with an uncertain outcome.  “Nothing describes my life more than a risky undertaking with an uncertain outcome.” Polly says, “Think about it, everything you do is a risky undertaking from starting a business, to getting married to following Christ.  It all carries a certain degree of risk.” Continue reading “The Storyteller’s Story – G.
